Practioners at Origin Osteopathy are registered to practice in New Zealand with the OCNZ (Osteopathic Council of New Zealand). In addition practitioners are registered ACC providers, which means we are able to work on existing or initiate new ACC claims where a valid injury has occurred. As primary health care providers, no referral by a GP or other health practitioner is required for either ACC or privately funded Osteopathic treatment.
Caron Shallish BSc (Hons) Ost (UK)
Originally from South Africa, Caron lived in the UK for 8 years, completing a 5 year BSc (Hons) degree in osteopathy at Oxford Brookes University. After graduating Caron practiced osteopathy at both an integrated centre of health and a sports centre. Since arriving in NZ in early 2011 with her old (originally south african) cat and a thirst for adventure, Caron has worked in a variety of settings from Whangarei to Wellington to Hawkes bay. Each of these areas have provided a unique patient base which is representative of the work and culture of the various local communities. This diversity has allowed Caron to work on a broad spectrum of injuries and conditions from people spending many hours at a desk, forestry workers, nurses, pregnant women, teenagers, children and octagenarians.
On deciding it was time to settle Caron has chosen to settle in Wellington with her kiwi partner and founded Origin Osteopathy in 2014. The clinic has gone from strength to strength and enjoys strong support from patients not only from Karori, but as far afield as Plimmerton, Johnsonville and Island Bay to mention a few.
Caron is keen on tramping, mountain biking, kayaking and fishing. She treats using a range of structural, visceral and cranial techniques, believing strongly that each treatment must be tailored to the specific needs of the individual person.
Caron has worked alongside other medical professionals and believes that, where appropriate, an integrated approach to healing can be extremely effective. She is more than happy to discuss what Osteopathy can offer in terms of treatment. Please feel free to call her with any any questions or concerns you may have about Osteopathic treatment. Simply leave a message on our answer service and Caron will return your call.
